Roger Clemons Indictment — More important than Terrorism

If you give someone power to destroy, expect destruction. The case will read United States v. Roger Clemons and by merely telling the jury this fact Roger’s chances are small for acquital. The U.S. attorney has the resources of the entire U.S. budget at his disposal, and even though Roger has a lot of money, his wealth is insignificant to those of his advisary. Win or lose he will have spent millions of dollars defending himself. Most defendants find themselves bankrupt after facing the U.S. government in Court – win or lose. So what heinous crime did he allegdly commit? He is not accused of a terrorist plot, robbing a bank, or throwing balls instead of strikes to rig a ballgame. He is not even accused of taking steroids. He will be tried for lying to Congress. That’s right Congress is offended someone may not have told them the truth. Imagine if Congressmen were held to the same standard they expect out of Roger. Maybe Roger did take steroids, I will believe that he didn’t because, first and foremost that is the way our system is supposed to work — someone is innocent until proved guilty. No matter what, we gave the power to destroy Roger to one person, and win or lose, Roger will be destroyed. His reputation is forever tarnished. The purpose of a bomb is to explode, what else should we expect.
