Outsourcing Overseas — Businesses on Steroids?

I read about companies that help business outsource legal research, marketing, insurance processing, and all sorts of back office work. They are being praised for their ingenuity and service. Perhaps they are more like “pushers.” Promising a “high” while not disclosing the downsides to addiction. Rather than using productivity, innovation, and invention, companies are cutting costs by employing cheap labor in India and elsewhere. The short term costs are much cheaper with little drop of in effeciency, but what are the long term costs to one’s business. Will some day you find that you are dependent on cheap labor at the very time your customers are rebelling at outsourcing? Will the nation’s unemployment continue to rise because all our jobs are going oversees, and your tax increases more than offset your cost savings from outsourcing. Will someone figure out how to outsource your product or service so you become a victim of your own ploy. We do not need to engage in Protectionism, but we do need to take a longer view. Outsoucing much like the drugs our athletes are warned not to take because of their long term effects, can be detrimental to your health. Like you tell your kids — Just say no!
